The index provides an alphabetical list of the major terms and concepts discussed in the online Help, with links to the specific Help pages that discuss each term. If you are looking for information about a specific topic, the index is usually the best place to start because it is the most narrowly focused search tool.

To look for information using the index:

  1. If the index is not already being displayed in the left pane, click the Index button in the top pane.

  2. In the Type in the keyword to find text box, enter the term or concept for which you need information.

As you enter each letter, the index will jump to and highlight the appropriate place in the alphabetical list. For example, if you are entering the term "lookup window," after you type " l," the index will jump to the first word that begins with " l," which might be "labour charge field." After you have typed "lo," the index will jump to the first word that begins with these letters, perhaps "logging in." With each letter you enter, the index gets closer to the location of the desired term.

Tip: The index searches for terms that begin exactly like the term you enter in the box, so enter the main term or concept. Do not enter a question or add extra words.

  3. When the term you seek comes into view, click any of the topics listed underneath the term to display the topic in the right pane.

Note: If there is no index entry for the keyword you entered, try searching for related terms. If you still cannot find an index term, you may need to use the broader search feature. See Searching the Online Help.
