Frequently Asked Questions about Importing Data

 

  • When I'm importing data, why do I need to copy the import file path from the Current Import File field and then paste it in the next field? Why don't you just enter the file path for me?

    This step is designed to encourage you to verify that the file path displayed in the Current Import File field is the path you want to use.

  • How do I create user access information automatically?

    When you import employee data, the Select to create a new user for each new employee check box is automatically selected. If you leave this box selected, ezLaborManager automatically generates a user ID and password for each imported employee. The user ID and the initial password are identical to the employee ID.

  • Do I have to set up my import preferences every time I want to import data?

    No. Reusable templates have been created for importing data. Templates define how data is imported and what data is imported. Your ADP ezLaborManager representative has set up a template for each type of data that can be imported to ezLaborManager. You can also create new templates, as necessary.

  • Can I delete the PUNCHES import template or the PXEMPLOYEE import template?

    No. These templates are used by external applications (such as ADP EasyPayNet and Pay eXpert) so that ezLaborManager can import time punch and employee data. If your company does not import these types of data, you will not have these templates in your list.
