The user emulation feature allows one supervisor to access the ezLaborManager records of employees who are usually the responsibility of another supervisor. This feature is generally used to allow one supervisor to cover for an absent colleague. Each supervisor controls who, if anyone, can emulate him or her.

Use the following links to select which supervisor can emulate you or to learn how to emulate another supervisor:

• Specifying Who Can Emulate You

  1. In the upper right corner of any main ezLaborManager page, click .

  2. If the User Emulation form is not visible on the right side of the Options page, click User Emulation in the left section of the page.

  3. In the Select users who can emulate you area, use the and buttons to move names in to or out of the Selected box.

     Tip: The Available box contains a scrolling list of all of the supervisors you can authorize to emulate you. To move a supervisor from the Available box to the Selected box, click the supervisor 's name to highlight it and then click . To remove a supervisor from the list of Selected supervisors , click the supervisor 's name in the Selected box and then click .

  4. When you are satisfied with the list in the Selected box, click Submit.

• Emulating Another Supervisor

  1. In the upper right corner of any main ezLaborManager page, click .

  2. If the User Emulation form is not visible on the right side of the Options page, click User Emulation in the left section of the page.

  3. In the Select users to emulate section, click the Emulate check box.

     Tip: The Emulate check box will only be available if at least one other supervisor has authorized you to emulate him or her. If this box is not visible, you will see the following informational message: You are not setup to emulate any users.

  4. Click and select from the list the name of the supervisor to be emulated.

  5. Click Submit.

     You are now emulating the supervisor you selected. The next time you open a page that displays employee data, you will be viewing data for the supervisor you are emulating.  

     Notes:
     The user emulation will continue until you return to the Options page and click the Emulate check box (to clear it) or select another supervisor to emulate, or until you log out of ezLaborManager .
     
     If you select another supervisor to emulate while the Emulate box is still checked, the change will take effect immediately.
     
     Emulation only affects Supervisor Services . If you switch to Employee Services you will see only your own data. If you switch to Administrator Services , you will have access to the same information you normally do.

Note: The edit audit trail always logs the ID of the actual individual who changes a record, even if that person is emulating another supervisor.
