Frequently Asked Questions about Entering and Finding Data

  • Do I have to use a specific format for entering dates, times, and numbers?

Although ezLaborManager has a preferred format for displaying dates and times, it is also capable of understanding and converting the most common formats used for entering these values. In most cases, ezLaborManager will convert and re-display your entry as soon as you enter a value and either press the tab key or click outside of the field. If ezLaborManager cannot understand your entry, an error message will be displayed that indicates the preferred format for the field. For more information, see Specifying Dates and Specifying Times.

  • I cannot remember the labor category codes I am supposed to use. What can I do?

If the field in which you need to enter data has a Lookup Button or Add Button next to it, you can use a lookup window to select the correct code from a list of available codes. See Using Lookup Windows for more information on how to uses these tools.

  • I'm trying to use a lookup window to enter data on a form, but the list in the lookup doesn't seem to include all of the choices. I know there are more choices. Why aren't they showing up?

The information you are viewing may have been grouped onto multiple pages to make it easier to view. If this is the case, there will be a legend at the top and the bottom of the page indicating that you are viewing one page out of many. "Page 1 of 5," for example, indicates that there are five pages of records and you are viewing the first page.

If a list of values or data has been broken into multiple pages, you can use the <Previous and Next> links that appear at the top and bottom of each pager to browse through the consecutive pages in the list. You can also click one of the numbered page links near the top and bottom of the page to go directly to a specific page.

Note: Only ten page number links can be displayed. If more than ten pages exist in a list, the page numbers will "roll" as you move forward and backward through the list.

  • I was entering information into ezLaborManager when I was called away from my desk. When I returned, ezLaborManager was displaying the message "Your session ID is invalid or has expired." When I logged back in, the data I was entering was gone. What happened?

ezLaborManager automatically logs you out if it does not detect any activity for a certain amount of time. If the application times out due to inactivity, any data that you have not saved (by clicking Submit) will be lost.

The automatic logout feature is intended to protect your data from unauthorized users who could access your data if you forget to log out of the application and are away from your computer. However, to maximize security, you should always log out of ezLaborManager before leaving your workstation. To prevent the loss of data due to an automatic logout, you should also click Submit to save your data as soon as you have entered it.

  • I am trying to find information about a specific employee, but when I try to add him to my filter, which is based on employee names, his name does not appear in the lookup window. How can I access this employee's information?

You can only view information about employees who have been assigned to security groups to which you have been granted access. If you cannot view information about a particular employee to which you believe you are supposed to have access, contact your system administrator. The employee may be assigned to the wrong security group, or your own security group setting may be incorrect.

  • When I use the Default Filter to view employee information, records for some employees that I do not supervise are selected. Why does this happen, and can I change the filter so that only my employees are displayed?

As a supervisor, you have access to all employees who belong to the security groups to which you have been assigned, even if you do not supervise every employee in each of those security groups. To make it easier to view and navigate among only your employees, create a new employee filter that uses employee names, IDs, or other criteria to select only your employees.
