Frequently Asked Questions about Loaning and Borrowing Employees

  • Why is an employee that I do not supervise showing up in my list of employees on the Group Labor tab?

The employee may have reported hours that were charged to an employee loan labor charge category for which you are the designated supervisor. Since the employee is showing up on your Group Labor tab, you can view his or her timecard to see if any hours or supplemental earnings have been loaned to you. It is also possible that the employee has been assigned to a security group to which you have access, even though you do not supervise all of the members of that security group. If this is the case, you may wish to edit your default filter to exclude the employee from your employee-related Supervisor Services pages.

  • In most cases, after I loan an employee to another manager and charge the employee's time pair or supplemental earnings to a labor charge code assigned to the other manager, I cannot edit the time pair or supplemental earnings record (except to remove the loan). In a few cases, however, the entry has remained editable, even after I have charged it to another manager. Why?

In most cases, you will not be able to edit transactions that have been assigned to another supervisor. However, if the supervisor is assigned to a security group to which you have access, you will be able to edit any records for time or supplemental earnings you have loaned to that supervisor.
