Frequently Asked Questions about Viewing Timecard and Payroll Information

  • What is the difference between the Payroll Summary and the Payroll Distribution window?

Both the Payroll Summary and the Payroll Distribution pages display information about an employee's hours by earnings code and, if available to supervisors, the employee's monetary earnings by earnings code. The Payroll Summary can be viewed for a pay period (from the Timecard) or a user-defined period that ranges from 1-31 days (from the Single Employee Timecard Manager). The Payroll Distribution window provides earnings code and monetary totals (if supervisors are allowed to view them) for only a single time pair. The Payroll Distribution window also includes details about payroll adjustments that are not available in the Payroll Summary.

  • Why are times shown on the Timecard for hours-based employee?

The time pairs that appear in the Timecard for time-based employees do not represent the actual hours worked by the employees. Rather, ezLaborManager creates these times by using a default start time and then adding the hours-based employee's reported hours to the start time. Even though these time pairs do not reflect the actual times worked, they do provide a numerical way to process and store hours-based data.
