As a practitioner, you can enter, edit, or delete service dates for employees who belong to security groups to which you have access. Service dates define key dates in an employee's employment, such as the date the employee began working for your company or the date when the employee became eligible for accrual benefits such as vacation time. Because service dates are useful for determining when employees become eligible for certain benefits, ADP recommends that you enter them for all employees.

To enter or edit an employee's service dates:

  1. From the Time & Attendance menu, select Maintenance.

Note: If the Maintenance option is not visible, make sure that you have selected Practitioner in the Role Selector.

  2. Under the Employee heading on the Maintenance page, click the Employee Positions (or Employees) link.

  3. Click the Select button (next to the Find button). The Employee ID Lookup window opens. Select the employee whose service dates you want to enter, edit, or delete.

  4. Expand the Employee Positions (or Employee) section, and then click the Service Dates menu item on the left side of the page.

  5. If service dates have already been created for the employee, you can edit the existing service dates:

  6. To add new service dates, click the Add additional Dates link under the Service Dates section.

  7. On the Dates Definition Lookup page, click the Date ID column that you want to add to the employee's record. The definition date you select appears in the Service Dates section on the Employees page.

  8. In the Date column, click the Select Date button, and then select the date when the service date went into effect or will go into effect. For example, if you select HIRE as the service date definition, enter the employee's first day of work at the company.

  9. Click the Submit button.
