If one or more of your employees reaches an infraction level that requires a corrective action, a notification is displayed on the Manager Home page.

To record a corrective action:

  1. In the Exceptions By Employee section of the Home page, click the Employees Requiring Attendance Corrective Action link.

  2. On the Employees Requiring Attendance Corrective Action page, click the event date for the employee for which you want to record a corrective action. The Attendance Infraction Requiring Corrective Action page will open, displaying the date of and the type of attendance infraction.

    Tips:
To view a definition of the infraction level and information about how it was reached, click the Info link under the Attendance Infraction field.

To view specific details about each attendance exception that contributed to the employee reaching the infraction level, click the Show Details link in the lower right corner of the page.

  3. If necessary, use the Lookup button to select the appropriate attendance action code for the corrective action you are recording.

Tip: The Attendance Action Code field initially displays the code for the default corrective action associated with the infraction level, but you can select a different action code.

  4. If necessary, modify the action date to reflect the date on which the corrective action was taken.

Tip: The Action Date field defaults to the current date.

  5. If necessary, edit the number of action points to be deducted from the employee's attendance point total when the corrective action is processed.

    Notes:
If your company has a fixed, required point value for the corrective action, the Action Points field will be filled in by the Time & Attendance module and will not be editable. If your company allows you to adjust the point deduction, the recommended value will appear in this field, but you will be able to change the value.

If your company has chosen not to display points for the employee, the Action Points field does not appear on the page.

  6. If you want to specify an edit reason code that is different from your default edit reason code, enter a valid code in the Edit Reason field, or use the Lookup button to select a code.

Note: If you have set a default edit reason code in your user options, it will automatically be displayed in the Edit Reason field. If you have not set a default edit reason code in your user options, your company's default edit reason code will be displayed in the Edit Reason field.

  7. In the Note field, enter any notes to be associated with this corrective action. These notes will appear in the edit audit trail.

  8. Click the Submit button.

Notes:
The employee's attendance point totals on the Attendance Exceptions page will not be changed immediately when you record a corrective action. These totals will be updated when the attendance processor runs. See your system administrator for information about the attendance processor schedule.

Most companies configure the application so that any required corrective actions must be recorded before a pay period can be closed.

You can also record a corrective action from the Employee Attendance link of the Home tab. If the employee whose attendance information you are viewing requires a corrective action, a Corrective Action Required link will appear on Employee Attendance link. To record the required corrective action, click the link and then follow the procedure above.
