Approving Employee Supplemental Earnings |

Your company may require that all supplemental earnings transactions be approved by a manager before payroll can be processed. If your company supports supplemental earnings and requires manager approvals, the Time & Attendance module generates a supplemental earnings exception for each unapproved supplemental earning transaction. These exceptions are listed in the Exceptions section of the Home page. accesses the Time & Attendance module.
Note: If your company does not require the approval of supplemental earnings, you will not receive any exceptions or be required to approve supplemental earnings while you are performing end of period tasks and processing your payroll.
In most cases, managers approve supplemental earnings transactions and resolve any Supplemental Earnings Supervisor Approval Required exceptions. However, if any employees have unapproved supplemental earnings transactions when you begin your end of period and payroll preparation tasks, those employees are displayed to you as having exceptions. If this happens, you can either e-mail the appropriate manager a reminder to approve the transactions and wait to continue preparing your payroll, or you can approve the transactions yourself within the prepare for payroll/end of period interface.
If your company requires that supplemental earnings be approved and unapproved supplemental earnings exist when you process End of Period, the Check Time Pair Exceptions page will list the unapproved supplemental earnings during Step 3: Check Time Pair Exceptions. If this happens:
In the Edit Supplemental Earnings column of Check Time Pair Exceptions page, click the button for an employee with unapproved supplemental earnings.
On the Supplemental Earnings page that opens, select the Supervisor Approval check box for each supplemental earnings transaction you want to approve. To select all supplemental earnings transactions, click the check box in the header row.
Note: You cannot edit and approve a transaction in one step. If you need to edit a supplemental earnings transaction, make the necessary edits and then click the Submit button. After the page refreshes, select the Supervisor Approval check box and click the Submit button again.
Click the End of Period Operations link at the bottom of the page to resume End of Period.
Note: The procedure given above is for the most common scenario in which practitioners have to approve supplemental earnings transactions. If you are a practitioner with manager user rights, you can use the Home page in the Manager role at any time to quickly view and resolve Supplemental Earnings Supervisor Approval Required exceptions for all employees assigned to security groups to which you have access.
