Assigning a Wage Rate Program to an Employee |
|
As a practitioner, you can assign a wage rate program to any employee who belongs to a security group to which you have access. A wage rate program defines special rates of pay to be used for specific labor charge value combinations. These rates can be defined relative to employees' base rates or as substitute rates that override employee rates. Only one wage rate program can be assigned to each employee, but that wage rate program can define rates for many different labor charge value combinations. You can also assign one wage rate program to each pay group.
To assign a wage rate program to an employee or change an employee's wage rate:
From the Time & Attendance menu, select Maintenance.
Note: If the Maintenance option is not visible, make sure that you have selected Practitioner in the Role Selector.
Under the Employee heading on the Maintenance page, click the Employee Positions (or Employees) link.
Click the button (next to the Find button). The Employee ID Lookup window opens. Select the employee to whom you want to assign a wage rate program.
Expand the Employee Positions section then select the General link.
Click the button next to the Wage Rate Program field to open the Wage Rate Program Lookup window. Select the wage rate program you want to assign to the employee.
Note: The Wage Rate Program Lookup window displays the wage rate programs that have been defined for your company. If no programs exist, or if you need to create a different program, see Creating a Wage Rate Program.
If you want the Time & Attendance module to completely ignore the wage rate program defined for the employee's pay group, check the Override Pay Group check box. This check box is available only if you have selected a value in the Wage Rate Program field.
Notes:
Time & Attendance module
always attempts to use an employee's assigned wage rate program before
applying the wage rate program assigned to the employee's pay group.
If the Override Pay Group check box is checked, the Time & Attendance module
will search only the employee's wage rate program for a labor charge
value combination match. If no match is found, the employee's base
rate is used.
If the Override Pay Group check box is not checked, the Time & Attendance module first
attempts to use the employee's wage rate program. If no employee wage
rate is defined, or if no matching labor charge value combinations
are found in the employee's wage rate program, the Time & Attendance module
then searches the wage rate program assigned to the employee's pay
group for matches. If no matches are found in the pay group wage rate,
or if no wage rate is assigned to the pay group, the employee's base
rate is used.
Click the Submit button.
Note: When and how wage rates are applied is affected by how the earnings codes and pay groups used by your company have been configured. For general information about how rates are applied, see Configuring When Rates Are Used. If you have specific questions about how rates are used in your company, consult your system administrator, ADP Implementation Specialist, or ADP Time & Attendance Representative.
