Wage rate programs can be assigned to pay groups by your ADP Time & Attendance Representative. A wage rate program defines special rates of pay to be used for specific labor charge value combinations. These rates can be defined relative to employees' base rates or as substitute rates that override employee rates. Only one wage rate program can be assigned to a pay group, but that wage rate program can define rates for many different labor charge value combinations.

As a practitioner, you cannot assign wage rate programs to pay groups. You can, however, create wage rate programs and assign them to employees, and wage rate programs assigned at the employee level always take precedence over wage rate programs assigned to pay groups. You can even set an option in an employee's record to prevent the Time & Attendance module from ever applying the pay group wage rate program for a specific employee. You may want to do this if you need to have all but one or two employees in a pay group use the same wage rate program. In this case, your ADP Time & Attendance Representative can set up the appropriate wage rate program for the pay group and you can then create and assign a different wage rate program for some of the individual employees. Note: When and how wage rates are applied is also affected by how the earnings codes used by your company have been configured. For general information about how rates are applied, see Configuring When Rates Are Used. If you have specific questions about how rates are used in your company, consult your system administrator or an ADP Time & Attendance Representative.
