Although most employee timecard management tasks are usually performed by managers, practitioners may occasionally need to view or edit employee timecards. If you have access to the Manager role, these tasks are most easily performed from the Manager role. If you are a practitioner who does not have access to the Manager role, you can perform employee timecard management tasks from the Practitioner Timecard Manager.
The Practitioner Timecard Manager is similar in appearance to the but it has additional columns for manager approvals. There are two different views of the Timecard Manager, each of which allows you to view, edit, and approve multiple time pairs at once.
The Single Employee View displays time pairs for a single employee. You can view the selected employee's time pairs for a predefined time period (such as "Current Pay Period"), or you can specify a date range (not to exceed 31 days) to view. The Multiple Employee View displays all time pairs for a single day for multiple employees. You can use the employee filter to select which employees are displayed in this view. See The Multiple Employee Timecard Manager for a full description this version of Timecard Manager.
From the Practitioner role, you can perform the following tasks:
Split a time pair to charge time to multiple labor categories
Record non-worked time such as vacations, illness, jury duty, etc. for an employee
Note: If you also have manager user rights, you can perform these and other timecard management tasks from the Manager role . Since managers are generally responsible for managing their employees' time, the the Manager role has additional tools, such as the Quick Charge feature, Group Labor page , and Payroll Adjustment/Unapproval Timecard at a Glance, to help you manage employee time.
