Managing Employee Accrual and Accumulator Balances |
|
The Time & Attendance module Accruals module allows you to view and manage accrual balances for employees who are assigned to security groups to which you have access. An accrual balance usually consists of hours that an employee has earned toward various types of paid or unpaid time off. Accruals are commonly used to award and track sick time, vacation time, floating holidays, and PTO (personal time off or paid time off). Accruals can also be used to track monetary awards that are earned or awarded incrementally over time.
If your company uses the Accruals module, an ADP Time & Attendance Representative has configured your Time & Attendance module database to automatically award and maintain specific accruals according to your company's policies. This involves defining when and how often each accrual is awarded, how the accrual award amounts are determined, and any conditions that must be met for an award to be made.
Some accruals used by your company may be awarded only after an employee has accumulated a certain number of hours or days in specific earnings codes. If your company's accruals have qualification rules of this type, your ADP Implementation Specialist has also set up accumulators for your company. An accumulator tracks how many hours or days an employee has accumulated in one or more earnings codes. For example, if your company awards an extra day of PTO to employees after they have worked the equivalent of 3 years, including vacation and holiday time, your Implementation Specialist must set up an accumulator that tracks the total number of days (or hours) distributed to the earnings codes VAC, REG, and HOL. An accrual called 3YR PTO could then be created to automatically award 1 day of PTO to an employee when his/her accumulator's balance reaches 780 days (3 years, assuming 52 weeks and 5 days per work week). Multiple accumulators can be defined to track different types of hours or days.
As a practitioner, you cannot view or change the accrual and accumulator configurations set up for your company, but you can view and adjust employees' accrual and accumulator balances. You can also record accrual cash out and purchase transactions, if your company allows these types of transactions.
