ezLaborManager can be configured to work with external timeclocks. This allows employees to clock in and out at physical timeclocks, rather than having to log in to ezLaborManager in order to record their time. Employees can assign specific labor charge values and/or earnings codes to the time they record at timeclocks. Depending on what type of timeclocks are used, and how they are configured, employees may also be able to record supplemental earnings and view their schedules, accrual balances, and company holidays at timeclocks. Supervisors can also use timeclocks to record punches for the employees they supervise.

When timeclocks are used with ezLaborManager, employee data recorded at the timeclocks is sent to a separate "data collection" software application that runs on a computer at your company. This software collects the timeclock data and uploads it periodically to ezLaborManager. The data collection software also receives data from ezLaborManager, such as employee names and badge numbers, employee schedules, employee accrual balances, company holidays, and valid edit reason codes, labor charge values, earnings codes, and supplemental earnings codes. The data collection software can use this information to validate employee and supervisor punches and to display information to employees. In some cases, this information can also be used to control when employees can record punches and open timeclock-controlled doors and gates.

Many timeclock features must be configured in the data collection software and/or by an ADP ezLaborManager representative. However, as an administrator, you can create timeclock definitions and assign employees to specific timeclocks. You can also create and edit timeclock groups, which allow you to assign employees to multiple timeclocks in one operation, simply by assigning them to a timeclock group.

If your company wants to restrict when employees can use timeclocks, an ADP ezLaborManager representative can create timeclock restriction groups for you. Each timeclock restriction group is associated with a timeclock schedule restriction window, which specifies a period of time before each scheduled IN time and a period of time after each scheduled OUT time during which an employee can record punches (and open certain timeclock-controlled doors or gates). After ADP has created one or more timeclock restriction groups for your company, you can assign employees to them. (Each employee can be assigned to only one timeclock restriction group.)

The topics below provide instructions for performing the timeclock-related tasks in ezLaborManager:

Notes: The term "timeclock" is used to refer to any external data collection device that is used, in conjunction with a separate data collection software application, to capture employee work time for uploading to ezLaborManager. This includes selected physical clocks that record "swipes" of employee badges, as well as selected handpunch readers. However, the term "timeclock" does not include ezLaborManager Phone, because phone transactions are processed directly in ezLaborManager (rather than through a separate data collection application).

The specific employee self-service features and supervisor features that are available at timeclocks depend on the specific timeclock and data collections software being used. For more information about the specific timeclocks and applications that are supported by ezLaborManager, and the features available with each, contact your ADP ezLaborManager representative.

In order to perform the tasks and use the features described above, an ADP ezLaborManager representative must have enabled and configured timeclock support for your company.
