Configuring and Managing Recurring Schedules |
|
Practitioners and managers can use recurring schedule templates to quickly assign employees to schedules that are based on predictable, repeating patterns. When you are using the Practitioner role, you can view, edit, or delete the recurring schedule templates that have been defined for your company. You can also create new templates as necessary. Once a recurring schedule template has been created for your company, it is available for all practitioners and managers to use when scheduling their employees.
Recurring schedule templates specify start and end times for each day of the week. Templates can be created for weekly schedules (employees work the same schedule every week) or for multi-week schedules (employees work a repeating pattern of different schedules for different weeks). For example, if your company allows employees to work a 9/80 schedule (80 hours over 9 days), you might define a two-week recurring schedule template based on the following breakdown of hours:
Week 1: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday: 9 hours each day
Week 2: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday: 9 hours each day; Thursday: 8 hours (Friday off)
You can also create multi-week templates for employees who rotate through different shifts. For example, you might create a multi-week rotation for employees who work a daytime schedule for six weeks and then a nighttime schedule for two weeks.
At a minimum, a recurring schedule template defines the times that employees are expected to work. Start times and end times can be defined separately for each day in the recurring schedule, so templates can be created for employees who work different hours on different days of the week. For example, you can create a template for part-time employees who work in the afternoon on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays and in the morning on Tuesdays and Thursdays. You can also create templates that include multiple time pairs per day.
In addition to defining the times an employee is expected to start and stop working, a recurring schedule template can also specify to which earnings code and labor charge field values each regularly scheduled time pair should be charged. You can also assign a lunch plan to each scheduled time pair. The total hours for time pairs assigned to a template are calculated according to the selected lunch plan and your company's time calculation rules. If your company is using the optional shift rules feature, you can also use the Shift Rule field to assign shift premium overrides on the recurring schedule template.
When you are using the Practitioner role, you can perform the following recurring schedule tasks:
