Note: Attendance infractions are an optional feature. If your company does not use attendance tracking and attendance infractions, the information on this page does not apply to you.

When an employee reaches an attendance infraction level that requires a corrective action, the employee's direct manager is notified through an exception that appears on the Home page for the Manager role. In most cases, the manager will perform and record the necessary corrective action. When you are using the Practitioner role, you can view an employee's history of corrective actions and, if necessary, edit individual corrective actions.

To view and edit attendance corrective actions:

  1. From the Time & Attendance menu, select Maintenance.

Note: If the Maintenance option is not visible, make sure that you have selected Practitioner in the Role Selector.

  2. Under the Employee heading on the Maintenance page, click the Attendance Exceptions link.

  3. On the Attendance Exceptions page, click the Select button (next to the Find button). The Employee ID Lookup window opens. Select the employee whose attendance corrective actions you want to view.

    Notes:
When the Attendance Exceptions page opens, a summary of the employee's recent attendance exceptions and corrective actions by tracking code is displayed. The tracking codes and the default time period for this display are defined by your ADP Time & Attendance Representative based on your company's policies. If your company assigns points to attendance exceptions and corrective actions, the Points column indicates the employee's point total for each tracking code and his or her current total point balance. (If your company has chosen not to display points for the employee, the Points column does not appear on the page.) The Number of Records column indicates the number of transactions for each tracking code.

If your company has an infraction procedure, the employee's current infraction level (even if it is "None") is displayed in the upper right corner of the Attendance Exceptions page.

  4. In the Tracking Code field, click the Down Arrow and select Corrective action taken. The page refreshes to show only the employee's corrective action totals for the time period being viewed.

  5. To view corrective actions for a time period other than the default, use the date selection tools to specify a new date range.

  6. To view more details about each of the corrective action transactions reflected in the Points and Number of Records totals, click anywhere in the Corrective action taken row. The Attendance Exception Detail page opens and displays detailed information about the individual corrective actions. (For more information about the exact information displayed, click here.)

Note: Some of the columns on the Attendance Exception Detail page are only meaningful for attendance exceptions. These columns will be blank or will contain meaningless values for corrective actions.

  7. If you want to view more information about a corrective action, click in the Date column of the row containing the action. The Attendance Corrective Action page opens. (For a description of each field on this page, click here.)

    Notes:
If the corrective action you are viewing has been rescinded, a "Rescinded" information message will appear at the top of the page and none of the fields will be editable.

To view a list of all of the attendance exceptions and corrective actions associated with the corrective action you are viewing, click the Show Details link near the bottom right corner of the page. The page expands to show a table that summarizes each transaction. The columns in this table are the same as those described in step 6 above.

You can also click the Edit Audit - Corrective Actions link near the top right corner of the page to view a detailed edit-audit history of the changes made to the corrective action itself.

  8. If necessary, edit any available fields on the Attendance Corrective Action page.

Note: A corrective action is only editable if its action date falls within the current or next pay period and it has not been rescinded. The Attendance Action Code, Action Points, Note, Action Date, and Edit Reason fields can be edited. The Event Date and Attendance Infraction Rule cannot be changed.

  9. If you have made any changes you want to save, click the Submit button.

Note: When you are using the Practitioner role, you can also rescind or delete an existing corrective action.
